He already knows he's up.

This is why we have a no time limit draft--it's not a passive aggressive code to rush guys, it's there for them to take their time.

Regardless of time limits or not, a response to a PM would be nice. In fact, being responsive and being communicative is a condition to being in this league. At least that was what I was told when I brought Havana into this league.

Another condition when we started everything here was that this wasn't a 12-month sport, so it would be appreciated if you got off people's cases in July of an NBA season.

We're literally in the dog days of the year, where there's literally no basketball (unless you find joy in the Pan Am games), so just take a chill pill and enjoy it!

Post by thebarnes23 Sun Jul 26, 2015 7:30 pm

I don't agree with that and support DC. I say this respectfully but whilst it's not a 12 month season to me that just means instead of 24 hours maybe a response will take a few days. No responses at all should never be ok at any point. I'm not directing that at La Jolla specifically I'm saying generally I have an issue Sam if your endorsing guys signing off for months and not checking or responding to messages or being active. The activity level has waned gradually after my first year in the league and when JI left.

I say all that with respect but also in support of DCs point which I think is very valid. No time limit shouldn't mean take 2 or 3 weeks for each pick by the way. That as well is not directed towards anyone - it's something that could happen every pick at the moment and that's apparently ok.

Post by Dalpsar Sun Jul 26, 2015 8:40 pm

Saying there is "no time limit" is not only a bad idea, but it is impossible. If there was no time limit, why should I make my pick at any reasonable time? I have an advantage to not only wait through Summer League, but to see if the person ever gets injured over the summer, or gets traded, or dies, etc. So in essence, if I wanted to be self-centered, I would just wait as long as possible. Then you as the commish, will need to force a time limit due to how long I took. Honestly with this rule, next time I pick 1st overall I will wait at least until the end of summer league before I make my pick. Why? Because I have everything to gain and yet nothing to lose.

In regards to communication, the last thing this league needs is less communication. It doesn't take much to see that this is by far the least active league on this forum, that should be a concern.

Last but not least, I am a bit offended that you defend this behavior at the sake of someone (me) who has literally been here from the beginning, who tries hard and is active. Seriously?

Deniz simply sent a 'you're on the clock' PM out. That doesn't need to warrant a response. If my mom asked me to go to bed, do I need to respond with 'OK' to get the point?

Anyone could simply be taking advantage of the no time-limit to research more on what they want to do, or be looking around to see what sort of trade scenarios they can garner. And yes Deniz, if you wanted to wait till Summer League ended (because by golly the SL tells you everything you need to know to gauge value), do it if it helps you out.

Sydney do you realize why me and some of us simply ignore some of your PMs? Because they're usually trade proposals that are outlandish and shouldn't even have been bought up in the first place.

You guys sound like the guy who gets angry and starts calling women all sorts of names when they stop responding to the guy's messages.

I've always said this, but trade activity does not need to be constant for something to be fun. Sure you guys may think trading is what keeps people engaged, but do you see over a trade per week in pro sports? Things like newsletters or other aspects of engagement can be done to keep things interesting, it doesn't have to be about all about me or you swapping guys just to get you giddy for a couple of days. Plus, it's not like I'm not allowing trades to happen until August/Sept. They've been open since our draft opened (since I know some of you want to get things going).

Deniz your activity and concerns are appreciated, but just because your activity is not reciprocated doesn't mean others don't care.

As I said earlier, this is the dog days of the NBA. Even media stories out there on the NBA are pointless this time of year. NBA players are literally on vacation for crying out loud and you want this to be a 365 day medium? None of us put a single penny in this so please be respectful that others aren't as obsessed as some of you.

And que the money coming up and it being a free league. It's a common and predictable line form you Sam.

I don't give two craps if I offer you a 2nd rounder for lebron. There is no excuse for ignoring people or not responding. It's no secret this is the least active league on this forum and it's no secret it hangs by a thread the nba part of this forum is on life support because of that type of attitude and acceptance by you as commish that mon activity and ignoring message is ok.

You have zero ability to take on board feedback and not be defensive.

Your building a stellar league if that's your attitude and example Sam.

It isn't just the PM. It is also the bump. It isn't like he is on vacation and couldn't respond to either due to his activity in the baseball forum. A simple, "Thanks, but still thinking about my pick" or "Sorry guys, been really busy in the baseball league" or "Oops I forgot". Just not responding to either to me isn't right or "respectful" as you put it. Sorry

Definitely, Sydney. You owning an illegal cap roster space in a cap salary league for over 6 months is definitely feeding into this 'stellar league' as you call it   2015 Salary Hoops Draft 68764

And no, sending ridiculous offers is basically saying a 'fuck you'. So we're suppose to stoop down to your lvl and engage in something that pointless? Why should we be nice and respond to you if you send out rude proposals time and time again.

Deniz, I dont speak for Tristan, but I see what you mean by at least letting you know what's up. That's up to him to be more open to communication.
I do want you to know that I appreciate you being active and here from the start (6 years!) and also keen in helping me catch other teams breaking rules in the past.
