waiving claimed waivers Rule discussion

Post by johnscrn on Wed Mar 22, 2017 12:25 pm

Currently if I waive a 5+ player to stash in my 40man and someone else claims him they are allowed to immediately waive that player for their 40man and I can’t do anything about it (21 days before I can claim I was told).

A, discussed on AIM, fix would be to change the rule so that the team that wins the claim cannot waive the player for 21 days.

However, this could lead to fewer claims on opening day of FA since people will not know if they will sign a better FA and will therefore not take the risk of being stuck with a 5+ player on their 25man that they don’t need for 3 weeks. I suggest that if the player is waived again and the original team claims them back that they go directly to the original teams 40man assuming no other claims (NHL rules).

A third option would be to remove the 21 days before reclaim and just let the teams go back and forth all season and see how long Dan keeps processing it.

I vote for mimicking the MLB, with waiver claims that can go on forever, no limit.

So Team A can put Tim Lincecum on waivers, he is claimed by Team B.

Team B puts Lincecum on Revocable Waivers, Team A should be able to claim.

However, if Team B outright cuts Lincecum, Team A cannot sign for 21 days as is in the rules.

 Makes sense to me.

The merry go round could invite collusion. I seriously doubt it`d happen here but it could happen pretty easily

Following the MLB rules, sounds like it would work.

Ok.
I'll Update Rule Book to Mimic MLB

"I vote for mimicking the MLB, with waiver claims that can go on forever, no limit.

Team B puts Lincecum on Revocable Waivers, Team A should be able to claim.
