Rfa match and trade

Post by Admin on Tue Aug 03, 2010 2:15 pm

Integrity is going to explain the rule better because I am mobile and don't have much time.

This will go into effect immediatley. None of the signings have anything to do with this as of yet and may not at all.

Basically sign and trade can only be done with the highest bid. When a rfa is matched he must be kept until jan 1.

Ill let ji ellaborate.

proposed rule change.... You
can Sign n Trade to highest bidding team only, for whatever negotiated.
If you match n keep, must keep guy on roster til jan 1. This prevents
me from winning a bid but then you trading guy to anyone else. It falls
in line with Nba's sign n trade rule and moratorium from trading newly
signed guys

this follows spirit of real life sign n trade rule and moratorium on
trading newly signed guys. would be bad for league if someone wins a
guy, but matching owner just deals him to another team.

this keeps things fair, reasonable and realistic. not fair if a guy wins a bid, but matching owner can deal anywhere else

in real life, when cle signed n traded bron, they couldnt deal him anywhere BUT miami

and while in real life a guy can pick their team, here, we have a higher bidder in lieu of that

wow, that made my words come up small

most are agreeing to this already but still...

we just want something fair and realistic. it would ruin the league if a team matches a guy but deals him to anyone other than the higher bidder

this prevents any side deals and stuff.....

also, phil votes yes but wont be around til tonite to get this in, thanks

I feel if i have the rfa right then i should be able to match any deal by any team and then trade him to anyteam. that is my rfa right, i know you guys want to keep it real but this is not real. our player don't have feeling about where they want to sign! i highest bidder may not have the right piece to the puzzle that i need on my team. you think cle would prefer the picks over lebron! bull shit if you said yes. CLE had the right to trade lebron to the highest bidder during the season they they didn't. yeah mia signed james to a fa deal, but then offer the trade to cle. fuck why not accept deal james is gone anyways. what am saying is our player don't have feeling about where they want to sign. so if i choose to match deal and resign my rfa, i should have the right to deal him to a team that can offer what i want and not what they have!

the diff is, once bron chose mia, cle couldnt sign him and trade him to anyone else BUT mia

well, in lieu of player picking team, we have highest bidder

it follows same spirit of nba sign n trade rule

how does it follow the spirit of the game, it ties your hands. cle had no choice in where james picked to go play, that was his choice. yeah they agreed to the sign and trade cause it make business sense in the NBA. (draft picks over nothing) in the nba player has a choice, here they don't and i don't see how locking a team to only being able to trade signed player to one team helps this league! it just another rule. again some things can't be the same as nba because we are not the nba, some rules just can't be applied

How?

Cuz winning team is just the same as player picking team

Why should high bidder get penalized?

If high bidder doesn't wanna give much, team can just match n keep

But to flip Guy to another team makes high bid worthless

Can't do it in real life, why here?

the highest bid is just that the highest bid nothing else! your putting to much into it. sometimes we bid to higher the price! is that fair no but that how the game is played ji. to many rule is sometimes not the right answer. highest bider knows that if the player is a rfa he may not win the player even if he is the highest bid. simple as that.

Yea n he should only lose Guy to matching team, not team x

If team x wanted Guy, should bid highest

Not deal with matching team as that creates side deals, etc

we are going in circles here, this is the most bs rule ever. should we deal with player agents when we try signing him to now! that would be real!

Highest bid is equilvalent to player picking team

We're using rfa as safeguard to keep guys or recoup value, not hold player hostage

Lol most bs?

Most think it's reasonable n fair

Its not like we made up something here. Just going more off of real life after seeing loopholes in system

This is supposed to be realistic, not pieces on a game board

Call me a conman but what's wrong with side deals?

If we're gonna use that excuse of it's more realistic then what about players taking less money to sign somewhere ala haslem, LBJ, bosh.

thank you, this is a game! and side deal are part of it, no loop whole here. the player is going to be signed at a price one of us (meaning an owner) thinks is fair!

Side deals aren't fair to bidding team

Bosh, bron taking less in real life is like us not bidding much or $$ tied up in bids so people like boozer get thru cheap.

I guess our 24 hour high bid system is kinda where guys can go for less

Cuz if I wasn't tied to al Jeff or we had longer, booz gets bid higher by me

Side deals lead to favoritism, collusion

yes its a game but when it can lead owners to conspire, that's not right

Favoritism how? Just because I sign and trade to buster doesn't mean he's my favorite trade buddy now. As any self serving manager would agree, it's all about making your own team better. Not by making butt buddies

Favoritism how....

Well lets say I lose a player to you. you bid 5 years $25M per. This player is my RFA. And so now (the way we have it now) i decide.... hmmm.... i dont want Thai to have my top notch player. Hey buddy (whoever it may be), I cant afford my RFA but I tell you what.... give me a 1st rounder and he's yours.

How would you feel now that you put all this work into doing math and aligning your team knowing that I couldnt match the bid and I go and flip him to my buddy?

Are we like this? Well simply, I dont want to give anyone the opportunity.

Isn't that why we have a TC though, so super shady deals like that don't go through. Obvily if I traded boozer away for a 1st round pick that would never fly with the TC in place

Re: Rfa match and trade

Dan I dont know what to say to you. I was 100% sure you wouldnt like this as you always dont.

I can't believe you cant understand that a player chooses teams for different reasons (location/friends/family/money) and we dont have that. Here he goes to the highest bidder. That's what he chooses here! So when the player picks his team... that's it! Then a sign and trade can be done to that team. The team can't say i know you chose to sign with Dallas but we're sending you to LA because it suits us better. What's so hard about that?!?!?

Your statement "we're putting too much into it"???? What does that supposed to mean? I've put a shitload into all of it. So why can't I make it better and realistic? I am trying to mirror the NBA and the league does need a lot of work. This was my first run. Baseball came out better. Hoops will be perfect when I'm done but I havent (and I bet none of you have because JI and myself spent countless hours discussing rules and it's all original) gone through this type of format before. I will continue to put too much in.

Every time you disagree for the fuck of it (which is 95% of the time) it's a real smack in the face. Why is the original rule book i wrote OK and not adjustments i feel are necessary?

The TC doesnt have ears all around the league.

Plus, it's not how it works.

I know that the TC doesn't have ears all around but all the trades still have to be approved thus preventing any collison or lopsided trades like your example

I said what I had to say. Let the league decide. Majority rules. I dont
feel like debating something as simple as this all night.

All i got from you 2 is....

I like side deals

and

I want to trade my RFA anywhere

That's not good enough. Sorry

bravo, i have nothing against rules if i like them when i don't i put in my 2 cents have a healthy debt and move on. i was just pointing out my views on this one. I understand the rule but JI points where regarding to NBA players that were UFA (james and bosh) not RFA (j william on cavs, ps only a total of 3 rfa in nba this year). RFA know that most of the time they are coming back to the team. there agents are do there job and have them sign the best offer sheet (highest bid) out there cause that what they are going to get paid by the team holding the rights. in james and bosh case like i said they were ufa's so it was in cle and tor best interest to sign and trade them so that there would be a return on there loss. mia had the cap room for both but players don't want to loss certain rights (bird rights) and i also allows them to get paid more sign an extra year ba bah bah. so that was my point. i agree that there should be a lock on time player needs to be with team after signing.

I know this is your league but once you back a rule it's like it will be in even before there's a vote. you should at least but this up for talks at our GM meeting in Vegas or A.C.(lol) rather then you and JI just putting up to vote. point of views are not bad, we talk about for a day, hear everyone out. then put it to a vote. I my like someone else's view and have a different vote the next day. with that said we only had four guys voice there views on this new rule. it would be nice the hear more.

an so we move on! not hating here. it is never a bad thing to hear the other side of things bravo. you know that in the end am in it!

ps fuck you noodle dick!

I havn't read all the post but I voted yes and now I'm changing to no, for one reason, the warriors got david lee through sign and trade but couldn't offer him a contract, he agreed to go to the warriors for the right contract, if within a week of signing the contract I don't see why we shouldn't be able to trade any of these players to any team.

Give me a logical explination, otherwise this rule is stupid

logical explanation is in previous posts.

if a team here cannot afford to sign him then that's just as if the team that cannot afford him didnt submit a bid. that situation is really not relevant to this issue.
