Yahoo is Open (FCC)
Yahoo has just opened, you should have received an email to join. I am going to set up the rookie draft right now as well, so we can get that going and move towards FA and RFA as soon as that is over to give us ample time before the season begins to get everything in order.
Welcome back!

I'm checking constantly just waiting for the draft to actually start. I wont be around much this weekend so hopefully I have at least my first round pick in by then.

I'll be getting my friend up to speed on this forum in the next few days. He took over Tarrytown and has no picks so he should have plenty of time to ease in. I'll make sure he does an intro too.

Do we have to offer min contract for RFA guys?
We need to update prospects too. Games played. Does each owner submit the games played numbers or is that left to the hockey gods? Can't remember.

Re: Yahoo is Open (FCC)
Yes you must offer RFA's minimum contracts, We can try to navigate that around basketball FA's so the forums doesn't get too crazy. Perhaps a week or two after basketball FA starts.
Also If everyone can handle their own minor league guys like Craig has and just give me a list of who needs the call ups and what the remaining minor leaguers have in terms of games played that would be great.
- [ltr]Submitting Offers: Teams must make their eligible restricted free agents an offer if they want matching rights. Offers must be a minimum of 2 years (not including option years), follow the contract minimum scale, and cannot be less than 50% of the past contracts Avg salary.[/ltr]

Re: Yahoo is Open (FCC)
should we be worried that previous posts from team St. Louis now say they were made by "Guest"? Might this explain why he isn't making his pick?

Re: Yahoo is Open (FCC)
I've found another guy for dan's team. Nick is a guy that Peter (Sudbury) and I used to work with.
He's in and once I get him up to speed with his team/forum, he'll be ready. We're all teachers and with school beginning up here in the great white north soon, it's a busy time. Should be ready to pick by the wknd.
Let me know if you want a 4th Canadian team in FCC! The Canadian invasion is happening

I got an email the other day saying that the danstierh (sp?) guy deleted his account.
I suppose y'all are replacing him? Or he suddenly departed?
Either way, Craig, that will explain why it says Guest.

Re: Yahoo is Open (FCC)
We may have found somebody older than Mark! Nick can't seem to navigate the site…the draft may have to wait a little longer
He said he got into the forum and contracts page but couldn't see St. Louis???

Everyone is signed up on yahoo.
Next step is for everyone to select their keepers (so select everyone that should be on your team this year) do not keep RFA's that are up for new contracts. Also feel free to add any appropriate rookies that need to be called up this year... thanks guys!

I might have to finalize the keepers first and get the rosters all set up... that would make sense haha.
So just pick your keepers for now and we can do the rookie call ups around our rookie draft time, and get all that set up before FA opens

Re: Yahoo is Open (FCC)
I don't know how reliable Nick will be so if anybody has a guy waiting to snap up a hockey team with the 1st overall pick, let Darrin know.
I was hoping he'd get started before the first day of teaching but that's not going to happen. The days ahead are busy and with his lack of technological skills, I'm not sure the draft will start soon.

I just don't want to get stuck rushing through FA before the season starts, we still have lots of time depending on how fast things get going here.
Figure the rookie draft can take 2 weeks max.
then 2 weeks of FA we should have an extra week in there for flexibility sake and be on our way.
Wednesday October 8th is the first day of the NHL season.

Re: Yahoo is Open (FCC)
Maybe Nick should teach his kids "statistics in sports" for a day in which they study how youth league stats predict fantasy value in the NHL. They can use this years entry level draft as a test case to determine who they would draft, "hypothetically."
Of course this may depend on the age of his students but I think it's appropriate to start teaching such an important subject as soon as kids can talk. Statistics is behind every decision any business makes.
.... None of my friends that I expected to be interested are.

Re: Yahoo is Open (FCC)
lol…Nick teaches Kindergarten. He would fail in fantasy sports so I don't think he should be teaching any stats related subject that has to do with fantasy sports. It has been a very busy first week back into the classroom. I'll try to get Nick to make his pick by this wknd. If not, let's try to get somebody who can come in and act quickly.

I think I have that person if no one is waiting for a team. He is a maple Leafs fan which I'm guessing would make you happy?

I'd say give this guy til the weekend to get into it and if he can't then we can move in someone else.

John, go ahead and invite your guy if Darrin approves.
Just spoke with Nick and he's been dealt some challenges at school this year. He won't have the time and energy to keep up with us here.
Let's get that 1st overall pick on the board so I can stall at #3 :D:D

Been without internet and power for the past two days. Bought a generator and just got internet back. I'll make sure my guy is still in.... I told him to make sure he can commit the time cause we didn't want to keep changing owners.
