Nice trade

Just a quick question that perhaps you guys would give input on. This doesn't affect your trade at all since you both have enough cash.

Shouldn't we make it in the future that the team options have to already be accepted in order to have it count towards salary considerations in a trade?

Say....

Biedrans - Last year left at a $15
Collison - 2 years at $1 each
Maggette - 5 years at $6

Team A has Biedrans and plenty of cash
Team B has collison and maggette but is flat broke at $0 and has no picks to trade to justify salary drops on incoming players

Team A "Oh noez, I'm so broke and Maggette's contract is gay. I will give collison too if anyone takes Maggette of meh"

Team B "Team A, yous is a broke fooooo but I will give you Biedran then you can cut him right away for only a $.5 hit"

Team A "Ok good idea. Butt secks later??"

Team B "No NOWZ"

I hope my explanation and example made sense.

You can't go over salary for any reason.

I'm going to make an options section to offer/decline very soon.

The players option needs to be picked up before you trade him. You can't trade any players not under contract.

Options can be picked up between the end of the season until the option deadline (TBA).

I figure we both would have to agreed on pick up option, but with the two contract in question in this case being exactly the same i figure it would not be a problem. i for one will be picking up the Collision option, but can not speak for Akron.

But to answer the question Thai. I would say that in trades like this where you trade players with only option year is left on contract then the received team will automatically pick up option year. And like i said above i will be picking up the option, but take speak for Akron.

well i no there no roster restrictions, but you always need to be under salary. a team can get into a lot of trouble when season begin if they are not under cap.

Gotcha. So the option MUST be picked up? I just figured that it could be used as a way to make salaries work sneaky sneaky if they were traded then immediately declined.

Like if a trade was posted like this....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Team A trades
Biedrans $15*

for

Team B trades
Collison 1/1/2*
Maggette 6/6/6/6/6

* denotes option year
Biedrans will not have option year picked up

----------------------------------------------------------

I'm just wondering because if an honest outstanding citizen like me saw a somewhat loophole then I'm sure a not so upstanding lawbiding booze chuggin dice throwin 2nd cousin raping citizen might see it too and take advantage of it.

Is this clearly stated in the rule book that when a player is traded that his option has to be picked up? Or when the player is traded in their option year before the deadline comes to pick up or decline the option ...that the option has to be picked up if they trade for them? Because if it is then I will 100% comply.

I mean it's only 1.5 mil difference so it's not a huge deal but I was assuming the players were still under contract, because they are not listed among free agents. The option was highlighted blue so I was also under the impression it could still be declined.

I wasn't trying to circumvent the system. I mean I obviously have the money to cover the option so there was no worries about something Thai mentioned (trading for an option that would put you over the cap and then just declining it to put u back under)

6-6 A1

After the season ends players under contract, cash, and eligible draft picks can be traded.

6-6 A2

Offer all team options on players (Salary Hoops)

Looks pretty clear to me. If your option hasnt been offered, youre not under contract.

oh pls don't take offense but again for a new guy those two lines would not help me on whether or not I would be required to exercise an option if I traded for that player. I didn't see anything about it and I saw him on TJ's roster and I knew options hadn't been picked up yet so I thought it was still okay to still trade for him and decline his option. I just honestly did not know.

I know it seems so clear to some of you but for me it was also clear... the option was still just that ...optional.

Again please take no offense. I'm just trying to have fun and I feel like all I do is piss off the Bravo lol. I'm honestly not trying to do that lol

i honestly forgot about the rule! but i figure since contact and i mean option were the same i figure there was not a problem. i never asked akron if he was pickup up option i just know i want my player option picked up. i see no problem in this case if akron does not pick up option because he not doing it to be shady. but i do understand the rule. sam approved the trade so this is pointless now. it's a matter of 1.5M i see if the amount was 10M there would be a problem.

given that there was a misunderstanding, if dustin doesnt want maggs, can that part of the trade just be cancelled out, provided akron sends 500k to TJ?

seems that'd clear up that

are we going to make exceptions for everyone that doesnt know the rules?

we all can pull the "i didnt know that" in the future and say, "hey! you made an exception for dustin"

you start special exceptions and you have to make them for everyone. including me!

Why is this such an issue? You know I've been asking the same question to myself. Everyone knows I made this move to clear salary which happens all the time in the NBA. Why is declining a 2 million option an issue?

For my part. It's an issue because I don't want to pick up his option just to drop him. It's an issue because the trade would have looked different had I known I had to pick up the option. It's an issue because the rules weren't clear but ur pretending that they are. If they were then the commissioner wouldn't have ruled the way he did.

...whatever ... I'm not someone who makes trouble or gets angered easily but my patience has been tested in just the first two months.

Let's just be done with this. All this fuss over a stupid 2 million maggette option. If I ever see that guy in real life ill kick his ass and tell him Jesus doesn't love him.
