So are there any actual rules for LTIR? The rulebook doesn't say anything at all about IR. Just curious.

If someone is out for the season you can replace them but that is it. If they're on LTIR in the actual NHL they just go on the regular IR for us. Here is the rule in our rulebook:

Cap Exception for Injured Reserve: If a player has a long-term injury and is out for the remainder of the season, his cap hit is still counted; however, the team is permitted to replace him with one player whose salary is equal to or less than that of the injured player through FA or trade. A trade “should” involve 1 player only coming your way and will not be permitted if the salary is used to purchase picks, players, or alleviate another team's cap issues. i.e. you cannot say, I have 5M is space, send me that awful player and a pick or prospect. This will take some common sense.
