Contract Page Confusion

There is some confusion going around based on the contract page format.

Were there other people that believed that their minor leaguers were counted against their cap while they were in the minors?

If there is enough a few people that are really up in arms about this we can extend 1 mil to all teams for the remainder of this year or something of the sort. Originally the idea was to keep minor leaguers free until they were NHL active, thus giving you 3 years of service instead of forcing them to be called up so they could play on ur squad for 2 years to recieve RFA rights.

Please post if you were confused about minor leaguers being included in your salary.

I figured it was like BoS where they didn't count against the cap until they were "called up".

that is currently the rule we have in place. But on the contracts page It does say Active/Inactive/D-League in the salary which makes it seem like minor leaguers are included in the salary so i will be changing the wording right now

Just to clarify, which is what I thought, until I saw them listed against this years cap on the Contracts page. So I just thought that I had read the rule wrong and started to go by the number on the Contract page when calculating how much money I had left in FA....

I believe you're confusing the D league with the basketball league. There is no D league in the NHL and nothing is in the rule book about FCC D league.

It looks like you made an honest mistake...but not sure what can be done about it.

To be honest, I don't think extending $1mil to all teams is the right thing to do. The rule book doesnt state anything about minor league contracts being incl in the contract.
Our discussions leading up to the FCC draft clarified this rule...in fact, some of us argued to have minor leaguers eligible to play more games before their contract kicked in.
Finally, altho the contracts page show D league with salary next to the players, just like in BoS and VSF, one could easily add up their own team's salary just to make sure the math was correct.
Now, I realize that we all don't have time for these little things and I know that Cory has been through a lot in the last little while so that may explain all this confusion. My opinion is that if everybody agrees, we give him the benefit of the doubt and make some things happen, no extra money tho, or we say owner beware...be more careful next time.

it's not too big a deal. luckily the mistake was caught early and we can learn going forward

ya the 1 mil idea was a bad one haha. My new idea on how to handle this is to spread out reave's (released) contract to like 0.3/0.4/0.4/0.5 to put you under cap this year but to still have u pay for his contract. Does that work for you (Denver) and everyone else?

You will currently be at 0 dollars, but still have the opportunity to use ur buyouts as u see fit and have the option to trade picks for cash and the like =)
