Playoff idea

I know there is little hope that this idea will be approved, but I thought I would at least throw it out there while it is fresh in my dome

So I am reading the new Bill Simmons book on Basketball. I am at a part where he talks about changing the NBA playoffs system. He suggests that the regular season should end 2 weeks early and the teams ranked 7-14 should have 8 team tourney to determine the last two teams that get into the playoffs. For our league it would be the teams ranked 5-12. There are several reasons why I think this is a good idea. For starters, it makes things more entertaining, especially for the teams that aren't doing so well. Two, teams in the bottom half of the league that are surging get to showcase their worth. Three, this kinda ties into #1, it helps preventing teams from tanking.

To be honest, I am not even completely sold on the idea, but I thought I would at least see how others feel about it.

but I DO THINK we should go to 6 teams next year

let the top 2 teams have a bye and include more teams

when 3 of the top 5 teams are in the west, with the 4th having kobe/stat/bynum/billups/brooks, something is a lil off

or maybe rotate divisions every year depending on record

im not doing half the league makes the playoffs. im 100% against it.

if you cant make the playoffs in the top 3rd of the league then you dont belong to be there.

if the blue jays werent in the AL East they would probably make the playoffs all the time. you dont hear of them asking that 15 teams make the playoffs!
